We bought both of our dogs for annual shots. Was quick and done no problem. We had animals for years and had always came here for their care. Friendly people, very knowledgeable about dogs. Any time Jasper get knots , instead of attempting to do it myself I can rely on the vet to do it for me. Thank you for a great service.
It must be me as a person I guess, because my family has been taking our pets to Joe since I was a kid, and there was no problems, even with my first pups they were good. But man..when we had to bring our beloved Bruce in for a nail trim, while I admit we had gotten behind, Joe was a bit rude about it. Whatever, maybe he was having a bad day, but that put a bad taste in my mouth. Then recently, our sweet boy Bruce got really sick really fast. The emergency weekend vet was SO sweet, we just don't understand how her listening to his heart didn't lead to the congestive heart failure sooner, but when he was only getting worse Sunday night, I had to bring him in again, knowing it was not gunna be a pleasant experience, I had to bring him in for his own good. Met over the phone with "I don't know what we are gunna do, but I GUESS bring him in." After listening to his heart, he immediately said congestive heart failure, and barely wanted to answer my questions on the medications, let alone me asking if I needed to make a followup appointment when he was out of the weeks worth of meds he gave Bruce. He was compassionate to Brucie, but short with me. And look, if anyone gets it, it's me: 1. Animals are better than humans, always. 2. It's a farm community, I understand the farmer mentality of being kind of calloused toward animal illness, and him being a vet for so long it wears on a person. 3. NOBODY likes to be woken up in the middle of the night to come into work. But then don't be an emergency vet if you can't be professional. I pride myself in being compassionate and understanding to a fault, but I did not deserve the kind of coldness I received, especially facing the fact this dog who was our WHOLE WORLD with a bond that was so strong and unique, was not going to be with us much longer, despite him only being halfway through his life. We let him suffer through the night, and ended up having to put him down the next day. I wish this was caught sooner, as we had taken him in before, and now we had to endure the horrible pain of putting down a dog too soon for our liking. The vet we chose to assist us in putting him down was a complete 180; compassionate, empathetic, she stayed open after hours to help us and our boy. I'm going to avoid Huron Vet for any pet needs from now on. Please do better or retire if you can't muster up a civil demeanor during sensitive moments. I am not the only one who feels this way either.
